These IP Intercoms use the same Peer-To-Peer protocol for audio and control transfer as the IP communication equipment of the
other ERMES IP product families and can therefore be used in a system in conjunction with any of them to meet all requirements.
Each intercom is IP native and therefore connects directly to the data network, which is the only infrastructure used for
communication between the devices; the intercom directly manages the connection to it without the need for interfaces or central
management units of any kind and without the need for a server on which to install software.
The basic version of the Industrial Series IP Intercoms has a glass-filled polyester housing suitable for installation in
marine or corrosive atmospheres such as those found in ports, on board ships or in some chemical plants; it is suitable for wall
or pole mounting using the adapters that can be supplied as an option.
On the front panel there is a microphone with stainless steel protection, a loudspeaker with protective grille also made of
glass-filled polyester and a variable number of selection buttons from 4 to 16, each with LED and tag holder.
For industrial intercoms, in addition to wall-mounted intercoms, there is a range of
table-top and flush-mounted intercoms with special features for ruggedness and reliability.
ERMES industrial IP intercoms enable high quality hands-free conversations, even in noisy environments, thanks to the
implementation of software filters for automatic microphone gain control, background noise reduction, echo cancelling and Larsen
effect suppression.
A version with a telephone handset is also available, with general functional characteristics similar to the hands-free version
but differing from it in that conversations take place on the handset while the tone of calls and announcements continue to be
played over the loudspeaker.
The rugged construction makes these intercoms suitable for use in both indoor and outdoor industrial environments. Versions
of these IP intercoms are also available with an AISI 316L stainless steel housing suitable for installation in environments
with special sanitation requirements, such as the food industry.
The buttons on the front of the intercom do not have a predefined function, but each one can be configured during initial
programming to assign a specific use in relation to the operational needs of the system.
For example, a button can be set to call another intercom or to activate the public address system on the loudspeakers of other
intercoms, or to activate one of the auxiliary relays on the intercom with which you are currently connected.
In order to reproduce the call tone or to broadcast announcements in particularly noisy areas, a version is available which
includes an audio power amplifier to which one or more external horns are connected in order to sound the areas surrounding the
installation point of the intercom; in addition, to ensure sound broadcasting in areas not covered by the horns connected to the
intercoms, it is possible to integrate the public address system with one or more
amplified audio gateways
which drive additional loudspeakers.
Ultimately, the Over IP solution is the most flexible and the most functional when an industrial intercom is needed to support production lines in any type of plant and in particular in the steel industry, rolling mills, foundries, refineries, chemical plants and power stations.
